Fighting the Opioid Epidemic with CBD

As you may have heard in the news, we are currently in the middle of an opioid epidemic. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in 2016 some 11.5 MILLION people misused prescription opioids. Over 42,000 people died from opioid overdoses, with prescription opioids being accountable for an estimated 40% of those deaths.

In addition to this, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in the same year a staggering 66.5 prescriptions per 100 people were for opioids. That’s a total of over 214 MILLION opioid prescriptions.

The main reason for prescribing opioids is for the relief of acute or chronic pain. Many researchers now believe that CBD Oil and CBD infused products may be an alternative to opioids for many reasons.

Unlike opioids, CBD is not addictive. As we mentioned above, CBD Oil, will not get you high and is therefore non-addictive.

You can’t die from a CBD overdose as you could from an opioid overdose.  According to the National Cancer Institute, “lethal overdoses from…cannabinoids do not occur.”

The benefits, the prospect of its future power in the medical field, and the natural properties of CBD is why we believe so strongly in it! For more information, please continue to browse our website for additional educational resources.
